Kaye’s oncology appointment

Well, I know that we probably prepared ourselves to hear the absolute worse prognosis.

But we actually heard some promising news and it was such a relief.

Just a few brief points:

:: not sure it is really in her bones at this point
:: sending her for a PET scan within next two weeks which will tell where, if any, the cancer has spread
:: it IS breast cancer and it is in a lymph node
:: if it is only there, he considers the cancer CURABLE (Praise Jesus!) and knows how he will cure her (meds, etc.)
:: if it is in her bones, considered Stage 4. Not curable but treatable and controllable and knows how he will approach treatment (meds, etc.)
:: possibly elsewhere, and if so, we will discuss it at the next appointment (two weeks from today) and treatment

They took a gallon or so of blood (she says, lol) today and with the PET scan to be scheduled soon, he hopes to get all of his answers. If not, there are other tests he might want to run.

All-in-all, it was a good appointment. I like her oncologist. My gut reading is two thumbs up and I always trust my gut.

Thank you so very much for your prayers and hugs and emails and text messages and phone calls today.

  2. Sue, this is good news! I am glad you like the oncologist. There's nothing worse than worrying that the Dr. isn't the best and working his / her hardest for Kay!
